How it works

Four steps from first question to test day

1

Choose your state

Rules differ by state. Your practice uses your state's handbook — never generic national rules.

2

Practice state-specific questions

Instant feedback with a plain-English “why” and a link to the official source.

3

Take a mock test

Your state's verified question count and passing rule — no hints until the end.

4

Review your mistakes

Retry what you missed and drill your weakest topics until they stick.

Accuracy first

If we can’t verify it, we don’t publish it

Every question starts from an official state handbook or DMV page. We write an original question, check the answer against the source, record the section and the date we verified it, and run it through an automated validator before it can go live.

How we verify content
  1. 1Read the official handbook or DMV page
  2. 2Extract one specific, checkable fact
  3. 3Write an original practice question
  4. 4Record the source URL, section and verification date
  5. 5Validator blocks anything missing a source

FAQ

Questions, answered

Are these the real DMV test questions?

No. DriveReady writes original practice questions from each state's official driver handbook and DMV pages. Every question shows the exact source section and a link so you can read the official wording yourself.

Why isn't my state available yet?

We only publish a state after we have read and verified its official handbook. States in verification are being checked now; we would rather show “coming soon” than publish rules we haven't confirmed.

Is DriveReady free?

Yes. Practice, mock tests and progress tracking are free and need no account. Your progress is stored only in your own browser.

Is DriveReady affiliated with the DMV?

This is an independent educational practice platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any DMV or government agency. Always confirm requirements with your state's official agency.

Who makes DriveReady?

DriveReady is built and maintained by Pytron Digital, a digital growth and technology partner. It is an independent product and is not connected to any government agency.

How is the mock test scored?

Each state's mock test uses the question count and passing rule published by that state where we have verified them — for example 14 of 20 in New York, including 2 of 4 road sign questions. Where a state doesn't publish a rule we could verify, we say so and use a clearly labeled 80% readiness target instead.
